Bishop Samuel L. Phillips, Sr. is
the Founder and Senior Pastor
of the Word of His Grace Christian Fellowship in Seffner, Florida.
Upon leaving Miami, Florida in 1973, Pastor
Phillips served honorably in the Unites States Air Force for 11
years.
In 1977, he began his ministerial training at St.
Paul Temple Church of God in Christ, in Tampa, FL, where he was
licensed as a minister and subsequently ordained as an Elder in
1984. Pastor Phillips has over 20 years of pastoral experience in
the Tampa Bay area including:
Youth Pastor at St. Paul Temple C.O.G.I.C., 1981-1983; Senior Associate Pastor at Independent
C.O.G.I.C.; and True Vine True Holiness Church, 1984-1994; and now
Senior Pastor and Founder of WOHG Christian Fellowship 1994 to
present.
Pastor Phillips received his Associate, Bachelor
and Master's degrees in Pastoral Theology from Life Christian
University in Lutz, FL.
In 1977, he met and married the former Miss Velma
Spencer of Panama City, FL. They have three children: Samuel Jr;
April & Timothy.
In the 13 years as senior pastors of the WOHG,
Pastors Samuel & Velma were inspired by the God-given vision to
establish a spiritual healing center. They have carefully and
skillfully guided God's flock through this blessed, but
sometimes-tedious journey.
Their exemplary leadership continues to inspire
church growth from the original 14 parishioners in 1994 to over 300
+ members presently. As consummate under-shepherds, they continually
speak to the purpose and destiny of each member of their flock.
